To grab the interest and enlighten aspiring and entry level drag
racers, fundamentally preparing tomorrow's drag racers for the future.
Is There a Need for This?
Drag strips first began sprouting up across America in the
mid-1950s. Their purpose was to give young hot rodders a place to
safely push their brute machines to the limit. These drag strips
need the support of racers and fans to keep their gates open. The
need for drag strips is as great today as it was 60-years-ago.
Unfortunately, illegal street racing still exists, endangering
racers and innocent bystanders on public roads.
AtTheDragStrip.com is designed to educate and enlighten future drag
racers. Transforming illegal street racers into drag racers and
encouraging hot rodders of all types to drag race safely in a
controlled environment.
A racer's first drag strip experience can be intimidating and perhaps
confusing enough to scare them from ever giving the drag strip a
chance. Our goal is to prepare aspiring and entry level drag
racers for an enhanced drag strip experience.
But We Also Cater to the
Seasoned Racer
In-depth articles, feature racer write-ups and LIVE drag
racing event reports give veteran drivers and fans the information they
need. While we don't offer the breaking news and round-by-round
results like other websites, we do offer our users the opportunity to
speak their minds, share stories and show off photos of their race
cars. We also post hundreds of photos from national level races.
Don't Forget the Drag Strips
Our Drag Strip Network is a small but growing list of drag
strips who contribute to AtTheDragStrip.com. Their forthcoming
events are listed in our At The Drag Strip This Weekend department and
have their contact information and full season schedules posted on
AtTheDragStrip.com
AtTheDragStrip.com began as a semester long project for an E-Business
Management course at Illinois State University. After generating
interest and mild noteriety, AtTheDragStrip.com founder and chief
editor, Randy Simpson, unvieled AtTheDragStrip.com in April, 2010.
